National Pride Campaign: Our three core demands

We call on a future federal government to secure, defend and expand the progress made in equalising the human rights of LGBTIQ* people.

Protect queer people in our Constitution!

Everything that the LGBTIQ* community has fought for in Germany seems fragile. The current Article 3 of Germany's Constitution (paragraph 3: "No one shall be discriminated against or favoured because of their gender, origin, race, language, homeland and origin, faith, religious or political beliefs, etc.") has not prevented the persecution and unequal treatment of queer people in the past. In view of increasing hostility, we are calling for this article to be amended. LGBTIQ* people must be protected from discrimination.

In addition, the reference to morality in Article 2 of the Constitution ("Everyone has the right to the free development of his personality insofar as he does not violate the rights of others and does not violate the constitutional order or the moral law") has allowed the persecution of queer people in the past, in particular the criminal prosecution of homosexual men, despite Articles 1 and 3 of the Constitution. In order to rule this out for all future generations and because the international and European Charter of Human Rights clearly demand equal rights for all people, we are calling for its deletion. It enables the arbitrary interpretation of laws.

Protect queer spaces: Secure community and counselling structures!

Queer people experience a large number of assaults in everyday life. Queer people can find help and first points of contact in community and counselling structures that are often organised on a voluntary basis. Funding for these services is precarious in many places. We are calling on the future federal government to secure these structures.

Combat hate crime and hate speech effectively!

Queer people experience hate and hate speech on the internet or are victims of violence on the street almost every day. A future federal government must protect queer people and develop better strategies to combat hate crime.

LGBTIQ* people have been demonstrating for equal rights and acceptance in Munich for more than 40 years. At the largest community event in southern Germany, which is supported by the lesbian-queer association LesCommunity, the gay-queer centre Sub, Münchner Aids-Hilfe, the voters' initiative Rosa Liste and the queer youth organisation diversity München, more than 100 events (2024) take place during two Pride Weeks. Highlights include the PolitParade with 325,000 participants and spectators (2024), the two-day street festival around Marienplatz and the RathausClubbing party event.
