Hungary Bans Pride – Stand in Solidarity with Budapest Pride
Dear Family, We are witnessing a grave assault on human rights and democracy in Hungary. In a swift and undemocratic maneuver, Hungary’s Parliament has banned Pride, rushing through repressive legislation in a single day, without consultation or debate. This law expands Hungary’s so-called "child protection" policies, further restricting LGBTQIA+ visibility and silencing our community.

What this new law means:
Criminalization of Pride: Organizing and attending Pride events could now lead to punishment. State Surveillance and Facial Recognition: Authorities can track, identify, and fine attendees, increasing the risks for activists and community members. This is not just about one march. This is an attack on freedom of expression, the right to protest, and LGBTQIA+ existence itself.  It is an escalation of Hungary’s authoritarian policies, designed to erase our community from public life and intimidate those who fight for equality.

Let us be clear: Pride cannot be banned. Pride is resistance. Pride is defiance. InterPride unequivocally condemns this blatant violation of human rights and stands in unwavering solidarity with Budapest Pride and our LGBTQIA+ siblings in Hungary.  We call on our members, allies, and the global human rights community to take action, speak out, and resist this oppression.

How you can take action:
Amplify Awareness: Share this news widely and ensure the world knows what is happening. Support Budapest Pride: Stand with them as they march on June 28, 2025 in defiance of this law. Demand International Action: Urge governments, the EU, and human rights institutions to condemn Hungary’s assault on LGBTQIA+ rights.

An attack on one of us is an attack on all of us. A world that defends LGBTQIA+ rights is a world that upholds freedom, dignity, and democracy for all. We are not going back. We will not be silent. We will not back down. We will not be erased. We will continue to march.

WE ARE INTERPRIDE. THIS IS OUR PROTEST!
